Weekly Update 5/5/26

What does it take to be a welcoming and friendly church? Have you ever stopped to think through all the parts that go into making our church welcoming and friendly? Is being welcoming and friendly all that we should be aiming for? If you have been around long enough you have heard me say that people don’t just want a church that is friendly, they want a church where they have friends. We were challenged to put this to the test this past Sunday as we had 10 visitors with us. This is a large number and a stress on all our systems. Thank you to everyone who went out of their way to help people find their spot.

It was encouraging to see people step up to serve in the nursery on short notice, other people step into tech team roles last minute, greeters jump in to point people to the nursery, and members connecting with the people sitting next to them. Even with all this I was most encouraged by how many of our visitors were personally invited to a small group and into a member’s home. These are the small steps that take us from being a welcoming church to a place where visitors feel like they can have true community. Thank you to everyone for all you do to make our church a hospitable church.
