What is Baptism? This is a question that we have seen visibly answered the past few Sundays. I have mentioned it recently but to emphasize baptism does not save us. It is a symbol of the salvation already worked by Jesus applied to our account. There are three symbols to remember in the waters of baptism. The past symbol of Christ’s death and resurrection. The current symbol of our death to our old life and the birth to a new life. The future symbol of our physical death and bodily resurrection. These three symbols form the foundation of what we believe and are confessed in the waters of baptism.
